WHAT TO BRING:

Bring a zero-waste vegan dish to share (no single use packaging! no animal products!)

BYOB (bathing suit), towel, flip flops

BYO plate, cup, cloth napkin, silverware, serving utensils

TICKETS:

There is a $12 minimum donation fee to attend this event (with option to top it up for the animals). If you'd like to attend & cost is a barrier, please send us a message :)

GIVING BACK:

Each #zwvHotLuck will raise awareness and funds for rescued animals. All proceeds from this event will go to Shanae's Animal Rescue. This organization rescues cats and dogs from high kill shelters across the world. In some cases, the animals require medical care in order to make the journey to find their furrrever home in Vancouver.

Peace People Project apparel will be at the paartay with 50% going to Shanae's Animal Rescue. There will also be silent auction items and a 50/50 draw to support their work, too!

DONATIONS:

If you can't attend, but would like to support this organization, please contribute here: https://www.facebook.com/donate/383920662445026/

AMENITIES:

There is a fridge, oven, microwave and BBQ on the roof if you need to store or heat your dishes. There are also change rooms with showers. The rooftop is wheelchair accessible.

Being on the roof comes with some awesome privileges that include sweeping views of the city, pool tables and quite a few indoor and outdoor lounge areas - including the HOT TUB!

A FEW RESTRICTIONS:

NO ALCOHOL, PETS or SMOKING on the premises. Glassware is permitted everywhere except in close proximity to or in the hot tub.

There's a security guard that constantly monitors the premises and imposes fines if the rules are broken. We’d like to continue to use the space throughout the summer so please abide by the rules otherwise we will kindly ask you to vacate the premises.

HOW TO GET HERE:

Biking is our #1 recommended earth-friendly transportation method (you're welcome to bring your bikes up with you during the event). If you live close to the Canada line or Sky Train stations we suggest using transit (earth-friendly option #2). Both Waterfront and Stadium station are within 5 minutes walking distance to 128 West Cordova Street, as well as numerous buses coming to and from Gastown. If you’re driving, there is an Easy Park parkade across the street. The entrance is on Water street. There are designated spots for both Evo and Car2go in the parkade as well. Metered parking is available on Cordova and the side streets.

WHY ZERO-WASTE?

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is over 3 times the size of France. It is estimated that we will have more plastic than fish in the oceans by 2050. Over 2.5 million beverage cups alone end up in Vancouver landfills every week (Global News).

WHY VEGAN?

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of ocean dead zones, deforestation, desertification, species extinction, and habitat destruction. A farm with 2500 dairy cows produces the same amount of waste as a city of 411,000 people (Cowspiracy). One serving of processed meat per day increases the risk of developing diabetes by 51%. Dairy is linked to many different types of cancer (What The Health). More than 150 billion sentient, innocent animals are slaughtered every year for food (The Vegan Calculator).

EVERYONE IS WELCOME:

If you're not zero-waste or vegan and you're interested in learning more about this lifestyle, you are obviously so welcome!

Looking forward to getting together again and to having our group grow!
